Wessex Water

Objective:
To assess the reduction in lead concentration at the customer’s tap after lining a 42m long supply and wessex-water-lead-reductioncommunication pipe using the ePIPE process.

Initial lead reading 7.45μg/l

Results:
Post Lining Lead concentration
Pb μg/l = 0.57

Project Features

  • 100% of the service pipe was lined, from the connection on the water main to the internal stop tap in the downstairs bathroom
  • The communication pipe was only 4m (10%) of the overall service pipe length
  • Inside the customer’s property the lining and curing hoses were carefully fed out of the nearest window, and floor protectors were used in the hallway, so there was very little disruption for the customer
  • A CCTV camera was inserted down the service and pipe samples were removed to demonstrate the lining

“The ePIPE process is an effective additional technique for tackling lead for both water company and customer pipes. From a customer perspective the process is relatively nonintrusive and the results speak for themselves”
